Report

Language Rights was established in Geneva in the first half of 2018. During these seven years it has developed its activity within the framework of the United Nations and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, with the aim of working within the framework of the institution’s Human Rights Charter, emphasizing linguistic and cultural rights.

We can structure this period into three stages:

1) the 2018-2020 period, with the call for the first UPR since the foundation of the Association,

2) the 2020-2023 period, with the dialogue with the minority rapporteur following the 25% ruling in school,

3) and the 2023-2025 period with the call for the last UPR in April 2025.

The Universal Periodic Review (UPR) is a unique mechanism of the Human Rights Council that requires each Member State of the United Nations to undergo an analysis of its human rights record every four and a half years.

The UPR periodically offers each State the opportunity to:

SUBMIT REPORTS

submit reports on the measures it has adopted to improve the human rights situation in the country and overcome the challenges that hinder the enjoyment of these rights; and

RECEIVE RECOMMENDATIONS

receive recommendations -based on the contributions of numerous stakeholders and previous reports- drawn up by other Member States, with the intention of continuing to improve.
